Deine PositionIn tech we have two main work streams:
- Heartbeat: Building a virtual power plant levering our energy manager “Heartbeat” and evolving the customer experience app around this
- Operating System for installation companies: Digitisation of operations and processes from ground operations to rooftop installations
As an IoT Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in integrating OEM devices, such as PV inverters, batteries, charging infrastructure, and heat pumps, into our cutting-edge heartbeat platform. Your role involves implementing communication protocols, developing embedded software modules on IoT gateway and controller devices, and conducting testing of our energy management system in our lab in Berlin. You will also be providing expert level support for both internal and external stakeholders. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you'll contribute to the entire product lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Integrate PV inverters, batteries, charging infrastructure, and heat pumps into our heartbeat platform
- Ensure seamless communication and interoperability between different OEM devices
- Implement communication protocols such as Modbus TCP, OCPP, MQTT, EEbus
- Develop, deploy, and maintain embedded software modules on IoT gateway and controller devices using Go programming
- Maintain and customize embedded Linux distributions using Yocto for IoT gateway devices
- Conduct testing of our energy management system in our lab in Berlin
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure software meets performance and reliability standards
- Provide expert-level support to both internal and external stakeholders
Dein ProfilYou have:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Control Engineering or related field
- Proven experience in IoT development and integration, with a focus on integrating diverse OEM devices
- Hands-on experience in the development of embedded software modules for IoT devices
- Experience with IoT development using Go programming is highly preferred
- Experience with Linux build systems, particularly Yocto, is strongly favored and will provide a competitive edge for this role
- Proficiency in communication protocols such as Modbus TCP, OCPP, and MQTT
- Understanding of energy management systems and related technologies
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools, including continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Experience quickly finding your way around in cross-functional teams in a fast pace, interdisciplinary working environment
- An agile and result-oriented mindset and you consider yourself a team player
- Very good knowledge of spoken and written English, German is a plus
Bonus points for:
- Experience in model-based development with Matlab/Simulink
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (ideally Google cloud) and their integration in IoT solutions
- Experience in implementing APIs for complex systems
- Previous experience in providing support to international stakeholders
- Certifications related to IoT and energy management
- Interest in climate tech industry
