👋 The Role

As a Senior Software Engineer (Backend & DevOps / Platform), you’ll work at the intersection of backend development and platform engineering, combining deep coding expertise with infrastructure mastery.

This role is perfect for engineers who thrive on crafting clean, efficient backend systems while also architecting and managing the cloud infrastructure that powers them. You’ll contribute to feature development and core backend improvements while ensuring our cloud-native platform is built for scalability, reliability, and speed.

As a Senior Software Engineer (Backend & DevOps / Platform), you will:

Develop High-Quality Backend Systems: Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services in TypeScript that are the foundation of our Bitcoin financial platform.
Take Ownership of Infrastructure: Architect, deploy, and manage cloud-native infrastructure using AWS services, ensuring it supports seamless development and reliable operations.
Optimize Developer Workflows: Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines, improve development tooling, and implement GitOps practices to enhance developer velocity.
Bridge Backend and Platform: Collaborate closely with the engineering team to ensure backend systems integrate seamlessly with the underlying platform and infrastructure.
Implement Durable Workflows: Design scalable, fault-tolerant execution workflows using tools like Temporal, Restate, or Inngest.
Champion Automation and Best Practices: Use Infrastructure as Code (IaC) frameworks like Terraform, CDK, or Pulumi to automate infrastructure and ensure maintainability.

To succeed in this role, you should:

Be a Backend & Platform Expert: 6+ years of experience in backend engineering and DevOps/Platform, with a proven ability to balance coding and infrastructure responsibilities.
Write Exceptional Code: You take pride in crafting clean, maintainable, and efficient backend systems that set new standards for quality.
Master Cloud Infrastructure: You’re skilled at designing and managing cloud-native architectures using AWS services, containers, and serverless technologies.
Optimize Workflows: You have experience building CI/CD pipelines, implementing GitOps, and streamlining development workflows.
Secure Infrastructure: You have experience in designing, implementing and operating technical security controls at the infrastructure level, including: logging, monitoring and alerting.
Take Ownership: You thrive on taking responsibility for your work, whether it’s a feature rollout or deploying a scalable infrastructure solution.
Bring Valuable Extras: Production experience with tools like Terraform Cloud, GitLab, JumpCloud, and workflow orchestration frameworks (e.g., Temporal, Restate, or Inngest) is a significant advantage.
Must be located within ±2 hours of the CET timezone to facilitate collaboration.
Being based in Munich, Salzburg, or Vienna is a significant advantage, with relocation assistance available.

Salary Range: EUR 60.000 - 100.000 gross p.a.*

*Final compensation will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, skills, previous experience and location.
