We are seeking a highly skilled (Senior) Backend Engineer – Java to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a critical part in building and maintaining a reliable, scalable backend system that supports both external and internal customer experiences. You will have the opportunity to connect Data Science and Enrichment processes with our Frontend architecture while owning datasets and project data to drive impactful outcomes.

Tasks

You will conceptualize, build, and maintain software projects for different steps in our data lineage. You will become the owner of one or several data projects and orchestrate them together with other engineers. Your focus will be some of the following:

Backend Development: Build, maintain, and operate Java Backend applications that are robust, secure, and scalable
Architectural Design: Develop and discuss backend architecture strategies, ensuring alignment with overall business goals
Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders including Frontend and Data Science teams to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance
Promote Best Practices: Advocate for engineering excellence by implementing testing, monitoring, and clean code practices in a microservices landscape
Project Ownership: Take charge of backend projects from conception through to deployment, ensuring that deliverables meet the highest quality standards

Technical Expertise: Minimum of 5 years in Backend Engineering, at least 3 years of experience with Java and Spring framework
Database Management: Proficiency with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and familiarity with document-oriented databases
Infrastructure & DevOps: Strong knowledge of Google Cloud (or AWS), Docker, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, and Github
Soft Skills: Effective collaboration skills, problem-solving capabilities, and a proactive approach to software development
Nice-to-have: Experience with Elasticsearch, API Design, Service-to-Service communication, and monitoring tools like Datadog is highly desirable
Language Proficiency: Fluent in English (C1 level)
