About the team - Better Places:

We are currently looking for a highly skilled and motivated Technical Product Owner to join the dynamic team at Bettermile. In this role, you will have a crucial responsibility in supporting the team that maintains a geocoding API composed of multiple backend services written in Kotlin and using various databases. Identifying potential causes of issues through data analysis is also part of the daily work. As a Technical Product Owner, you will primarily collaborate with engineers, QA teams, and other product teams to improve the functionality and internationalisation efforts of our address system. Moreover, you will closely work with our user insights and support team to resolve any issues associated with incorrect addresses.

    Tasks

    • Developing a deep knowledge of our Places product, including core components like address system integration, geosolutions, normalisation, and geocoding.
    • Collaborating with software and data engineers to enhance existing product functionality, expand into new countries, and drive internationalisation efforts.
    • Perform deep dives and analysis of geocoding data to derive meaningful insights.
    • Actively engaging with other product teams, user insights, and customer support to address issues stemming from inaccurate geocoding.
    • Coordinating with internal stakeholders and adopting an iterative approach to resolve project challenges and troubleshoot ongoing issues.
    • Leading through team rituals, prioritisation, and product conceptualization.

    Requirements

    • 2-4 years of experience as a Product Owner, with at least 2 years in a technical capacity.
    • High technical affinity with a basic technical background; proficient in any programming language, able to test APIs, understand concepts like requests/second, throttling, rate limits, and execute simple SQL queries in the production environment.
    • Strong data analytical skills, with a particular interest in GEO data. You enjoy working with data and feel comfortable taking ownership of dashboards alongside data analysts.
    • Skilled in iterative product development and familiar with Agile methodologies.
    • A hands-on mentality and self-driven approach without the need for micromanaging.
    • Excellent English communication and management skills for coordinating with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.

IT IS AWESOME IF YOU ALSO HAVE

    • Familiarity with B2B SaaS products and their dynamics.
    • Interest and experience in working on greenfield topics, as well as improving existing products and concepts.
    • A background in data analysis and geospatial data.
    • Experience using Confluence and Jira

Take your chance and step to the forefront of changing a rapidly growing industry with your contribution. You will take responsibility quickly, however, supported by mentors at all times. We provide an open corporate culture based on sharing and learning, equal footing collaboration, and short decision-making.

At the moment we only proceed with candidates who are authorised to work in Germany OR already have a Job Seekers Visa.
