About the Role
Join our dynamic Purchase Team as a Software Engineer and play a pivotal role in architecting, building, and scaling our core buyer systems. These systems power millions in transaction volume and are critical to our business success. You'll work in an autonomous, high-impact engineering team, tackling complex technical challenges with measurable business outcomes. Key Responsibilities:
- Design & Develop: Craft robust, scalable software solutions for our payments platform using modern PHP practices and event-driven architecture. Balance perfection with practical completion to deliver features efficiently.
- Own Quality: Implement comprehensive testing strategies to ensure 99.9%+ uptime for mission-critical payment systems. Identify and mitigate security risks to maintain system integrity.
- Drive Innovation: Lead technical initiatives to enhance performance, reduce operational costs, and elevate user experience. Proactively identify potential issues and communicate them to your manager.
- Collaborate & Mentor: Engage in pair programming, lead code reviews, and mentor junior engineers to foster a culture of continuous improvement. Collaborate with the product manager on designing smaller features and translating product requirements into working features.
- Champion Engineering Excellence: Implement CI/CD pipelines, contribute to technical documentation, and advocate for best practices. Provide constructive pull request reviews and occasionally point out issues to team members.
- Measure Impact: Track and report on key technical metrics that drive business outcomes. Understand the team's projects and domain well, and provide insights on how new features will impact overall system performance.
Technical Requirements
Must-Have:
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong PHP development expertise with the Symfony framework.
- Experience building and maintaining high-availability production systems.
- Solid understanding of microservices and event-driven architectures.
- Proficiency with Git, CI/CD practices, and automated testing.
- Experience with relational databases and query optimization.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with JVM-based languages (Java/Kotlin).
- Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS/GCP/Azure).
- Understanding of Domain-Driven Design principles.
- Experience with message brokers (Kafka/RabbitMQ).
- Background in the fintech or payments industry.
