Cambrium's mission is to trigger the next wave of material innovation by harnessing biology’s molecular building blocks. We fundamentally believe that the ability to align economic and environmental incentives makes biology the most important manufacturing technology of the 21st century. Using our molecular design technology, we create novel material building blocks with previously inaccessible functionalities. Our molecules enable innovators to create products that are better for people, and the planet.

At Cambrium, we’ve successfully developed two innovative products for the personal care and the polymers market. But we’re just at the beginning. Our world-class research team is already working on new products for coatings, foams, adhesives, fiber, and other performance materials. We are now gearing up to bring these products to market and scale our operations.

Your role

As a Junior Accountant, you will be working in the Strategy and Operations Department, reporting directly to the Head of Finance & Operations. Your job will be to be make sure our accounts are kept well, and we always have access to most up-to-date numbers. Applying a keen eye for detail, you will be enabling the team to take stock of the company’s financial health and to generate strategic insights.
The role is 20 hours a week and flexible in terms of hours and location. Ideally, you would come to the office twice a week most of the time.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Preparatory bookkeeping, checking expenses are classified correctly and filed appropriately
Handling the accounting of received purchase orders, writing outgoing invoices and making sure VAT is accounted for correctly
Supporting the Head of Finance & Operations in creating the monthly, quarterly and annual reporting together with our tax advisors
Collating the teams’ spending, cleaning the data and preparing it for budget reviews
Collecting the relevant information and responding to reporting requests from public funding bodies and investors

Your profile

Ideally, you are a qualified Industriekauffrau/mann.
Equivalent degrees for example in Business Administration with an Accounting and Finance Focus or ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualifications are also considered, if an understanding of HGB is evidenced.
2 year post qualification work experience in accounting/bookkeeping
Experience with DATEV. Experience with other expense management software is a
plus
Advanced Excel/Spreadsheet skills
Outstanding eye for detail and meticulous work attitude
Fluent in German and English (English is our office language)
Proactive mindset with the ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks
Passionate about Cambrium's mission, and excited to bring new innovative molecules to market
