Backend Engineer (f/m/d)
The role:
As our Backend Engineer, you'll be the wizard behind the curtain, making our marketplaces smooth, intuitive, and downright delightful. You'll be a key member of our talented Marketplace Team— a team of 6-8 software engineers both frontend and backend—dedicated to creating seamless, impactful experiences on the xChange platform.
Reporting to , our Engineering Manager, and working closely with the Product and Design Teams, you'll focus on improving our Trading and Leasing platforms to increase transactions from our existing customers. Together, you'll refine and develop features that ensure our customers succeed and find value on our platform. You’ll also support our operational team by streamlining processes and automating complex workflows to reduce manual work.
Your responsibilities in a nutshell:
- You build it, you run it: Design and build new features as part of your engineering team, owning the process from start to finish
- Collaborate closely with Product, Business, and Design teams to challenge, maintain, and enhance existing features.
- Work on cutting-edge modern technologies while contributing to a dynamic, forward-thinking organization, identify technical debts and seek sustainable solutions.
- Support in optimizing our coding processes and push the boundaries of our toolset and architecture.
- Actively help drive the team towards our technical vision and share valuable insights and learnings.
Requirements
What makes you a great fit?
- You bring 2-3 years of professional experience with Java Spring Boot web applications
- You have a good understanding of microservices architecture (e.g., event sourcing) and messaging brokers (e.g., Kafka)
- You have a basic understanding of cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Kubernetes)
- You have good understanding of relational databases
- You have a good understanding of modern engineering processes and agile methodologies
- You are committed to writing high-quality code and maintaining technical standards
- You have a growth mindset and actively seek opportunities to propose and implement new ideas
- You bring a collaborative approach and enjoy working with others to solve problems

- Backend: Java 21, Spring Boot, Apache Kafka, Rabbit MQ
- Frontend: Angular, TypeScript, NgRx, Redux
- Database: MariaDB, MySQL
- Testing: JUnit, Mockito, Cypress, Integration testing via test containers
- Infrastructure: AWS, Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes
