We're looking for an experienced Senior Backend Engineer (m/f/d) to join our Platform Team and help shape the foundation of our core backend services. In this role, you’ll work on critical systems like payment processing, hotel integrations, and gastronomy solutions. You'll play a key part in building MVPs, scaling systems, and continuously improving our architecture, performance, and reliability.
Tasks
- Design, develop, and maintain Node.js TypeScript microservices within our event-driven architecture
- Improve and extend our payment system integrations with various POS providers (e.g. Oracle Simphony, Vectron, Gastrofix, Mews)
- Enhance asynchronous operations through Kafka, supporting scalable, real-time event handling
- Optimize PostgreSQL interactions using the Sequelize ORM for performance and reliability
- Ensure robust security standards across all payment processing workflows
- Contribute to our containerized infrastructure using Kubernetes and manage deployments with Kapitan
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software development experience
- Strong expertise in TypeScript and Node.js with modern ES features
- Solid experience with microservice architecture and event-driven systems (Kafka)
- Proficiency in RESTful API design and implementation
- In-depth knowledge of PostgreSQL and ORM frameworks like Sequelize
- Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and container orchestration
- Understanding of payment processing systems, security requirements, and gateway integrations (e.g. Adyen) is a plus
- Familiarity with POS/PMS systems and integration patterns (e.g. Oracle Simphony, Vectron, Mews) is a plus
- Comfort with asynchronous programming and WebSocket implementations
- Experience with dependency injection frameworks (e.g. tsyringe)
- Strong testing practices, including unit, integration, and E2E testing
- Understanding of API security, rate limiting, and observability tools
