Join the Divio Adventure!
Are you passionate about infrastructure and cloud engineering? Do you like inventing and managing complex AWS architectures through code? Are you looking for responsibilities that include hundreds of live web applications? Well, you have come to the right place!
What is Divio?
Our small company is led by a small team working remotely across Europe, full of ambitions and with a passion for tech. Our main product is a multi-cloud Platform as a Service tailored to Docker-based applications — primarily Python Django, but not limited to it. Beyond our PaaS product, we also manage a substantial AWS infrastructure dedicated to a single client, whose mission is to sustain over a hundred highly available websites. The scope and variety of these two projects keep us on our toes, ensuring there’s always a new challenge around the corner.
But it’s not all about technology. At Divio, we believe in fun, collaboration, and personal growth, but we also hold ourselves to a high standard of excellence. We are passionate and do not believe in complex hierarchies. Everyone is encouraged to bring their ideas and help make them come to life. We avoid the blame game and strive to work together, as we strongly believe the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.
What about the job?
As a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) at Divio, the entire AWS infrastructure that supports over a hundred highly available websites is in your hands (no pressure!).
In collaboration with the team, you work in sprints to maintain and evolve the AWS infrastructure on behalf of our clients. Your tasks are carefully crafted and estimated to give visibility to the outside, but you stay alert and eager to propose unplanned improvements and fixes. You follow the Infrastructure-As-Code best practices and document your changes. With full control over the AWS architecture, you act wisely in all your endeavors and ponder the consequences of your actions on the uptime.
When discussing with external parties, you stay professional and can justify your choices and estimates.
You are also responsible for setting up and maintaining proper test and staging environments to ease the work of the frontend team and work closely with them to sustain the platform.
In other words, what we expect from you:
Tell me more about the tech stack
Our client has websites built with Storyblok and Gatsby, further enhanced with dynamic APIs deployed on AWS (Api Gateway). You’ll have the opportunity to play with most major AWS services, such as CodePipeline, CloudFront, S3, Dynamo, Lambda, API Gateway, etc.
The whole infrastructure is managed with AWS CDK (Typescript) and Typescript (e.g. fastify for lambdas) - the content is managed within Storyblok and some external data sources.
Other services such as Github Actions and CloudFlare come into the mix to keep things interesting.
