Tasks

Senior Backend / Full-Stack Software Engineer

You will be building backends for our healthcare products, providing APIs, data storage and cloud processing capabilities to mobile and web applications. The tech stack mainly consists of Dart and NodeJS (NestJS, NextJS / VueJS) containers deployed to Azure App Service and managed Kubernetes instances. Strategically we want to unify our tech stack around HL7 FHIR GraphQL APIs layered on top of Azure Health Data Services (or any other FHIR server). Since our frontends make use of Flutter, creating our backend containers in Dart helps with code reusability and lowering the barrier between front-end and back-end work. However, we also have NodeJS-based backends that we need to maintain as well.

Your mission will be to drive all software engineering tasks from the get-go and provide a solid, easily deployed and well-monitored cloud infrastructure. Our customers are both our portfolio companies and external clients. Depending on the stage of the project you will be joining, you will interact with customers and users from the very beginning. You will closely cooperate with a team of entrepreneurs along this journey.

Our teams are usually small and we are looking for individuals who thrive in situations where they can look at the entire product instead of optimizing just a specific aspect of it. Knowledge of front-end technologies and willingness to engage in front-end tasks will be a huge plus.

Role & Responsibilities

• Development of products from prototype through MVP until launch.
• Playing an active role in driving the technology roadmap and innovation process.
• Focus on our products’ security posture.
• Delivery of the start-up’s software product(s).
• Writing testable, production-quality code.

Requirements

Requirements & Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Science or other relevant discipline.
• 5+ years’ experience as a software engineer.
• Strong knowledge of backend software engineering, ideally with NodeJS-based frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of Dart is a plus.
• Experience with Terraform and/or Kubernetes, Azure App Services and common devops methodologies.
• Ability and willingness to learn frameworks you haven’t mastered yet.
• Willingness to build APIs and products that support and promote securely working with interoperable health data formats.
• Demonstrated experience in shipping testable, working code.
• Understanding of front-end & back-end technologies and platforms.
• Knowledge of Scrum or other agile methodologies.
• Desire to work in an agile, fast-paced, collaborative start-up environment.
• Ideally located in Munich or CET time zone
