We are looking for a motivated and curious Middle level Kotlin Engineer to join our Team Network Services in Berlin, where you are at the heart of Network Planning - transforming the planned network into the actual network (inventory) that the entire company relies on.

To align our product with Flix's ambitious growth strategy, our team has started a mission to transition to a Kotlin-based technology stack. This includes rethinking our PHP microservices and finalizing the decoupling of the monolith. Your expertise and passion for Kotlin will be highly valued in this journey.

You will be part of a supportive, self-organized, cross-functional team of professionals, including a Product Owner and Backend / Full Stack Engineers, with support from UX/UI Specialists and an Agile Coach.

Your Tasks – Paint the world green

As part of our team, you own and drive the development of our products that provide network data to downstream domains.
You are a T-shaped engineer. You show and improve your skills in all areas like Backend, Frontend, DevOps, and Testing.

You confidently work with or learn how to use cutting-edge technologies and tools including but not limited to:
- Kotlin (Spring Boot)
- PHP
- SQL
- CI/CD (GitLab)
- Infrastructure (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform)
- Distributed system architecture (Apache Kafka, HTTP/REST)
- React
- Snowflake

Your Profile – Ready to hop on board

3+ years of professional experience in software engineering and at least 1 year of experience with Kotlin and Spring Boot for scalable application development.
Expertise in PHP (Symfony) is beneficial but not mandatory, as our current systems are PHP-based and we will work in a hybrid environment.
A solid understanding of testing frameworks.
A solid knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
A basic understanding of messaging concepts and patterns in distributed systems (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ).
Experience using Docker to run your application and have a basic understanding of automation and deployment of applications into cloud infrastructure (e.g., GitLab pipelines, AWS, Azure).
Experience in frontend development is a plus.
