About GEMESYS
We are a deep-tech startup that is set up to build a legacy. Our mission is to design a chip that works like the human brain to overcome computing bottlenecks and provide AI with the hardware to fulfill its destiny: Shaping a better future for everyone.
Based out of Bochum, Germany, we are setting out to challenge the status quo.
We are a group of pioneering minds who love blank canvases. We work within an agile startup environment where you can be hands-on and contribute to the success of next-generation AI hardware.
We execute and work at a high pace. We fail fast and learn faster. Sounds like you? Come join us!
Tasks
- We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced (Senior) Analog-/Mixed-Signal Design Engineer to join our cutting-edge hardware development team. The role involves contributing to the full IC design stack - from concept to successful silicon implementation, including top-level integration, post-layout verification and final design sign-off. Experience with PCB design, system integration and chip-testing is a strong plus.
Design, simulate, and validate analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits, including opamps, low-power and low-leakage circuits, logic and memory blocks. - Lead and participate in all stages of the IC design process, including:
- Schematic design and simulation
- Layout and parasitic extraction
- Design and performance verification (post-layout simulations)
- Top-level integration and sign-off
- Drive the circuit design with an emphasis on low-power performance, low-leakage and noise robustness.
- Ensure proper physical design implementation.
- Assist with board-level design, integration, and testing.
- Debug silicon prototypes in the lab, working on performance optimization and issue resolution.
- Work closely with other teams to ensure that designs meet the system-level requirements.
- Support the preparation of detailed technical documentation for design, testing, and verification processes.
Requirements
- You are an innovative Analog Design Engineer with a deep understanding in advanced analog design theory, and a strong background in analog/mixed-signal circuit design, built around low-power, and low-leakage circuits. Essential:
Master’s (or PhD) degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with a focus on integrated circuit design (analog-/mixed-signal). - 5+ years of experience in analog-/mixed-signal IC design.
- Proven track record with 3+ successful tape-outs involving complex IC design flows (65nm or below is a plus).
- Strong expertise in designing opamps, low-power and low-leakage circuits.
- Experience with industry-standard design tools (preferably Cadence Virtuoso).
- Proficiency in parasitic extraction, post-layout simulation, and verification methodologies (MC, corner).
- Understanding of device physics and fabrication processes to optimize design performance.
- Strong problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex engineering problems and contribute to innovative solutions. Preferred:
- Familiarity with advanced CMOS process nodes (e.g., 65nm and below).
- Experience with PCB design (e.g., Altium Designer) and debugging of analog-/mixed-signal circuits.
- Experience with data converters (ADCs/DACs), filters, logic and memory blocks as well as other mixed-signal blocks and methods.
- Experience in AI research and development.
