Sanctions Investigations Compliance Officer m/f/d

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Sanctions Investigations Compliance Officer to join our client's Financial Crime team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring that our operations comply with international sanctions laws and regulations. You will be responsible for investigating potential sanctions violations, implementing sanctions screening processes, and advising on sanctions-related matters to mitigate risk.

Tasks

• Conduct in-depth investigations of potential sanctions violations and escalate findings to the Head of Financial Crime Compliance.
• Monitor transactions and customer activities for compliance with sanctions regulations and internal policies.
• Perform sanctions screening of transactions, customers, and counterparties, and handle sanctions-related alerts.
• Develop and maintain sanctions-related policies, procedures, and controls in line with applicable laws and regulations.
• Advise business units and senior management on sanctions-related risks and appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
• Prepare reports on sanctions investigations and trends for internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
• Provide training and guidance to employees on sanctions regulations and compliance best practices.Collaborate with global teams to ensure consistent application of sanctions compliance standards.
• Stay current on changes in sanctions laws, regulations, and industry best practices, and adjust internal policies as needed.
• Support audits and examinations related to sanctions compliance by regulatory authorities and internal audit teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Advanced degree or certifications (e.g., CAMS, CGSS) are beneficial.
• Several years of experience in sanctions compliance, investigations, or a related field within the banking or financial services industry.
• Strong knowledge of international sanctions regulations, including OFAC, EU, and UN sanctions.
• Experience with sanctions screening tools and transaction monitoring systems.
• Excellent analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly present complex information to various stakeholders.
• High ethical standards and integrity, with a strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
