One of our companies is currently looking for a Backend Engineer - Consumer Account (f/m/d) in Germany.
As a Backend Engineer in the Consumer Domain, you will play a key role in developing and maintaining the backend infrastructure for the Consumer Account application. This application is central to the user experience, allowing consumers to manage orders, buyer protection, and communications with shops. Working within a cross-functional team, you will have the opportunity to shape the backend architecture, focus on infrastructure, and ensure seamless integration between different systems and services, all within an agile environment. Your expertise in backend technologies, AWS services, and infrastructure management will be crucial to the success of this project.
Accountabilities:
- Develop and maintain backend services for the Consumer Account, ensuring scalability and reliability.
- Work with mobile-first, responsive applications built with Flutter, supporting a REST-API and Java-based backend running in AWS and on-premise.
- Drive the infrastructure and architecture decisions, utilizing AWS services such as ECS with Fargate, AWS SQS, SNS, and Cloudfront.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform to manage the deployment and maintenance of AWS resources.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product Managers, Agile Coaches, and UX, to deliver a high-quality product.
- Own the full development lifecycle, from design to deployment, ensuring continuous integration and delivery with CircleCI.
- Troubleshoot and resolve backend issues, ensuring system reliability and performance.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience as a Backend Engineer.
- Deep knowledge of Java and experience building backend services using Java-based frameworks.
- Experience with cloud platforms, particularly AWS, and deploying applications in a containerized environment (e.g., AWS ECS).
- Familiarity with mobile app development using Flutter/Dart is a plus.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD practices and experience with CircleCI or similar tools.
- Good understanding of writing testable code and test automation.
- Experience with Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch to implement designs is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills in English (German is a plus).
- A collaborative mindset and a willingness to learn and grow with the team.
