We are seeking a skilled and passionate QA Engineer to join one of Germany’s fastest-growing legal tech startups. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in test automation, quality assurance processes, and modern testing frameworks.

In this role, you will be embedded within our development squad, working closely with developers to ensure high-quality software solutions. As the first dedicated QA member, you will have the opportunity to establish and expand our QA processes—from setting up test automation frameworks to defining best practices for testing and quality assurance. You’ll play a key role in improving software reliability, enhancing testing efficiency, and ensuring seamless releases.

Tasks

Quality Ownership & Process Implementation:

Establish and evolve QA processes within our development squad, ensuring high software quality and smooth releases.
Define and implement best practices for testing strategies, including automated and manual testing approaches.
Collaborate closely with developers to integrate testing into the development lifecycle early and efficiently.

Test Automation & Execution:

Design, develop, and maintain test automation frameworks to improve efficiency and reliability in testing.
Write and execute automated and manual test cases, ensuring high test coverage for critical features.
Identify, document, and track bugs and issues, working with developers to ensure timely resolution.

Technical Collaboration & Innovation:

Work alongside developers and product managers to define testable requirements and ensure seamless feature delivery.
Research and introduce new tools and technologies to enhance testing efficiency and accuracy.
Advocate for shift-left testing, ensuring early and continuous validation of software quality.

Project Support & Risk Management:

Ensure testing aligns with project timelines and release goals, identifying risks early in the process.
Communicate testing progress, challenges, and quality concerns to the team and stakeholders.
Support continuous delivery efforts by ensuring rigorous and reliable CI/CD testing pipelines.

Process Optimization & Documentation:

Continuously improve testing workflows to enhance efficiency and reduce release cycle times.
Maintain clear and up-to-date test documentation, ensuring easy onboarding and knowledge sharing.
Foster a quality-first mindset within the development squad, encouraging proactive testing and collaboration.

Requirements

Proven QA Experience:

5+ years of experience in Quality Assurance, Test Automation, or Software Testing within an agile development environment.
Experience working closely with development teams to build and integrate testing strategies from the ground up.

Technical Expertise:

Strong proficiency in test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, PyTest).
Solid understanding of API testing, end-to-end testing, and performance testing.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated tests into development workflows.
Familiarity with backend and frontend technologies (Python/Django and/or TypeScript/Vue.js is a plus).

Version Control & Tools:

Experience using Git and version control best practices.
Working knowledge of databases, web services, and cloud-based testing environments is a plus.

Problem-Solving & Communication:

Analytical mindset with strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders.
Ability to define clear test strategies and advocate for best testing practices within the team.
