Building, developing and enabling high performing teams who build awesome products is the main responsibility for our Engineering Managers. It’s the entry position in our Engineering Management career path and reports to a Head of Product Engineering.
As an Engineering Manager joining our team, you will initially focus on hands-on technical tasks like an individual contributor allowing you to gain a deep understanding of our infrastructure and systems so that you know the code inside and out before adding managerial responsibilities to your plate. This approach enables you to understand the technical challenges your team encounters deeply, setting you and the team up for future wins.

- You have found your passion in software development, but you enjoy building the right team, removing roadblocks, helping others, creating transparency, and alignment even more than being an individual contributor
- Based on your experience you will be responsible for the engineers of 1-3 product teams in a you-build-it-you-run-it environment
- Depending on the amount of people and teams you are leading, you will still be contributing hands on to a certain percentage of your time
- You are going to help our engineers grow personally and professionally - not only by advancing their skills, but also by inspiring them through purpose
- You make sure that we leverage (new) technology within our product teams to build products customers love and work for the business
- You are responsible for delivery of your products while balancing time, budget, and quality
- You will contribute to strategic initiatives that are larger than your team(s) like raising the engineering bar, improving our guidelines, and defining how we work as an organization
Profil
Your profile – this is what we expect from you
- You have worked in cross-functional product teams and bring a vast experience in engineering of scalable web applications
- You are an experienced Engineering Manager used to solving engineering problems with the tools & frameworks that make sense both for the problem domain and the engineering organization; the team's tech stack is predominantly PHP and JavaScript
- You possess an outstanding sense of ownership, passion and drive which brings energy to the room
- Your communication skills are on point, and you know what matters, especially in a remote setup
- You already have some experience in a management role and building successful teams and you are motivated to grow even more in the role of a successful Engineering Manager
- You are a natural go-to-person within your organization by mentoring other engineers and helping them grow and succeed
- You are willing to go the extra mile to make your team successful, you give honest feedback, and you are able to discuss, commit and execute
