    We are currently looking for a Lead DevOps Engineer(all genders) based in Berlin or working remotely in Germany to join our expanding team.

    Your mission with us:
    We are seeking an experienced Lead DevOps Engineer to join Lingoda. Leading a team of experienced DevOps engineers and collaborating with our software developers, you will manage all aspects of our cloud infrastructure and development pipelines supporting the growth and scaling of our product and helping us become the best online language school in the world. 

    This role will report to the Head of IT Operations and is pivotal for Lingoda as we scale our people, business and products.


    Your tasks:
  • Manage all aspects of our cloud infrastructure, development pipelines and development environments, maintaining a high level of performance, reliability and service to the engineering team, the business and our customers. This includes the following: Cloud Infrastructure - Management of AWS infrastructure, Kubernetes, RDS, Lambda, EC2, Development Environments, Alerting and Monitoring, Scaling, Incident Management, Disaster Recovery, Backups, Cloud Budgets and security
  • Promote DevOps culture and ways of working, enabling our development team
  • Provide direct line management to the DevOps Team, including hiring, training, performance review, and professional development
  • Create the Roadmap for the DevOps area, manage and oversee DevOps projects
  • Ensure that we develop quality processes and procedures
  • Ensure security controls and reliability controls meet business, customer and industry best practices
  • Stay current of latest trends in cloud and DevOps, and leverage new technologies to increase efficiency and innovation
  • Foster a positive environment, promoting a culture of continuous improvement
  • Form strong relationships with stakeholders and the wider engineering team to ensure alignment and that IT Operations is exceeding expectations 
  • Working together with our engineering leadership group to define our technical architecture and overly platform performance and reliability
  • Balancing your leadership and management responsibilities with a hands on mentality, taking part in DevOps tasks

  • You bring to Lingoda:
  • 1 year minimum direct managing a team of DevOps Engineers, with additional years of experience (3+) in a mentorship function
  • 5+ years of DevOps experience working on high quality and interactive scalable web applications and cloud infrastructure
  • Working in high growth environments using SCRUM, Kanban or similar methodologies
  • Proven experience in cloud infrastructure, development pipeline management, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions, AWS, and RabbitMQ. Nice to have PHP/MySQL experience
  • Demonstrable experience with CI/CD, IaC, and cloud security best practices
  • Strong technical & people leadership, decision-making, running projects, eye for detail and an experienced team manager of managing teams of 3-5 people
  • Excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with many other functions and departments
  • Very strong in balancing business requirements and technical process to deliver results and achieve success
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Fluent English skills (C-level).
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
