First things first: you want to know what you're actually applying for. It's impossible to capture every nuance of a role – especially at a rapidly growing company like Mews – but if we had to distil it down to a job description (which we do because this is a job description), it would be this:
As the Director, Strategy and Business Operations of Fintech you will play a critical role in driving the success of our fintech business. You will act as a strategic and operational partner to the GM, Fintech ensuring the seamless execution of initiatives, fostering cross-functional collaboration, and enhancing overall organizational effectiveness.
✅ Your mission, should you choose to accept it:
Priority Work-Stream Management and Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Ensure progress on priority work-streams, follow through on critical action items, and build decision-making frameworks and deliverables.
- Collaborate closely with key cross-functional leaders across Mews to optimize the Fintech business's performance and drive execution on strategic projects.
- Lead complex, strategic cross-functional projects, proactively addressing emerging opportunities and challenges. Investigate root causes of departmental issues and connect teams to devise solutions.
Strategic Planning and Business Performance Monitoring
- Assist GM, Fintech in developing strategic and financial plans in coordination with finance/FP&A
- Act as a thought partner for the GM, Fintech, and the Fintech organization's cross-functional leadership team.
- Develop and monitor dashboards tracking financial and product metrics.
- Collaborate with finance/FP&A, business operations, and the fintech data team to update financial plans and monitor business performance
Drive Fintech Team's Operational Rhythm, Communication and Collaboration
- Create, implement, and drive the Fintech team's business/operating rhythms, relevant artifacts, and team events.
- Streamline operations and processes to enhance productivity.
- Facilitate effective communication within the fintech team and across the broader Mews organization.
- Prepare and deliver presentations, reports, and updates for internal and external stakeholders.
- Act as a liaison between GM Fintech and other departments, fostering collaboration and alignment.
🤝️ You'll be a great fit if you bring a few of the below with you:
- Comprehensive experience in consulting, investment banking, strategy and business operations, product management or as a chief of staff
- Industry expertise in payments and/or technology is preferred.
- Experience in market sizing, building financial forecasts, and conducting strategic analysis.
- Strong project management experience.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a history of hands-on, detail-oriented work.
- Superior communication, listening, and negotiation skills. Able to convey important messages clearly and compellingly and translate complex technical matters into terms understood by business professionals.
- Sharp business judgment with the ability to see the "big picture" and prioritize effectively.
- Exceptional organizational skills and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- A strategic thinker with a proactive and results-oriented mindset.
- Ability to manage change and ambiguity with an action-oriented approach. Must thrive in a high-growth, dynamic environment.
- Proven experience working directly with people at all levels, including cross-functionally, including building trusted advisor relationships with C-suite executives and acting as a liaison between teams and leadership.
