    ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY 

    The Gender Equality Advocacy Coordinator is an exciting opportunity to shape and drive ONE's advocacy and campaigns work on gender equality within the context of Germany's global development agenda. The ideal candidate should be experienced in monitoring Official Development Assistance (ODA) spending patterns, following political developments and devising effective advocacy strategies. Demonstrable knowledge of development debates, especially on promoting gender equality globally, and relevant actors is crucial. Strong networking skills and existing contacts with relevant stakeholders in politics and civil society are considered an asset. The ideal candidate will be a great teammate and self-starter with excellent project management and communications skills, who is able to handle a fast-paced environment.  

    This position is a full-time position (40 hours / week), reporting directly to the Germany Senior Campaigns Manager and is based in ONE's Berlin Office. 

    IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL 

    • Follow relevant political debates and processes regarding the promotion of gender equality globally and resources allocated by the German government.  
    • Develop and implement ONE's advocacy position and strategies to increase German ODA earmarked for gender equality.  
    • Tailor ONE's advocacy positions into different formats for varied target audiences (letters to policy makers, social media content, website articles).  
    • Establish relationships with relevant stakeholders in government, parliament, civil society and other partners in order to stay abreast of policy debates relevant to ONE's issues and ensure access to relevant meetings and conventions.  
    • Provide policy advice to support the work of the media and campaigns teams around key campaign moments.  
    • Provide project management support for advocacy events or activities.  
    • Support reporting for internal and external stakeholders. 
    • Other duties as assigned.  

     

    WHAT YOU BRING TO ONE 

    • Masters' Degree preferred and 2+ years' relevant professional experience. 
    • Experience working on issues of development policy, with specific experience in German development policies and institutions and gender equality.  
    • Experience of development and implementation of advocacy strategy. 
    • Strong political judgement and understanding of the German political environment and relevant parliamentary and policy processes. 
    • A demonstrable understanding of the links between advocacy, policymaking, legislation, and implementation of programs. 
    • Ability to synthesize complex policy language and to seek out key facts and statistics that help explain complicated policy topics to a broad audience. Strong communication and writing skills.  
    • Strong networking skills, outstanding integrity and tact are essential for the role to interact with high-level individuals internally and externally. 
    • Ability to manage multiple, shifting priorities under tight deadlines while performing in a fast-paced, collaborative environment  
    • Ability to work in Germany is required

    LANGUAGE SKILLS 

    Fluency in German or native speaker level and excellent English skills are critical for the role. 

    TRAVEL 

    Travel up to 5% international and/or domestic.
