As an IT Administrator at PEER Group, you’ll be responsible for maintaining and optimizing our servers, networks, and software, working closely with the Managing Director and Lead System Administrator in our Canadian headquarters, to ensure the smooth operation of our IT environment.
This position is primarily office-based with occasional data center visits.
Tasks
- Resolve end-user IT issues (such as password resets, software questions, PC hardware problems, printer problems and other IT concerns) by accurately tracking help desk requests and resolutions, prioritizing requests according to urgency, and escalating as necessary.
- Manage all computer hardware, software, and their configurations to ensure optimal performance and security.
- Set up and maintain Microsoft Windows servers, clients, and Linux systems, both on-premise and in the cloud, and plan and roll out hardware and software.
- Maintain Virtual Machines in VMware 7.0 and HyperV 2022.
- Provide support for server technology, network infrastructure, VoIP systems, and Windows PCs to minimize user downtime.
- Implement network security measures using Sophos Firewall XGs, HPE Aruba switches, and Unify WiFi.
- Monitor system logs, hardware activity, and datacenter performance to identify necessary adjustments.
- Perform data and virtual machine backups with Veeam and Microsoft System Center while maintaining the Disaster Recovery Plan.
- Work closely with the IT team at PEER Group headquarters in Canada to ensure alignment of all IT systems and protocols if/as required.
- Install and configure printers, laptops, and other peripherals.
- Participate in moves, adds, and updates to network and systems access for employees.
- Maintain and track the inventory of all IT hardware and software.
- Develop and manage IT project plans, set timelines, allocate resources, and communicate progress to stakeholders.
- Communicate IT infrastructure schedules and changes to relevant stakeholders.
Requirements
- A completed degree in (business) informatics or comparable training and a minimum of 5 years job experience as an IT administrator.
- Strong knowledge of VMware 7.0 and HyperV 2022.
- Proficient in managing Microsoft Windows Server (2016, 2019, 2022), Windows 10/11, and Debian 11/12.
- Familiar with network technologies such as Sophos Firewalls, HPE Aruba Switches, and Unify WiFi.
- Solid experience with backup solutions like Veeam and Microsoft System Center DPM.
- Good understanding of Microsoft 365 services (EntraID, SharePoint, Teams, Exchange Online).
- Proficient in managing Atlassian Jira and Confluence, as well as Microsoft Azure DevOps.
- Experience in managing and configuring corporate mobile devices would be an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of good IT customer service, including patience and a knack for understanding customer needs, also with non-technical users.
- Strong problem-solving skills and organizational abilities.
- Excellent communication skills in both German and English.
