Fabrication Director (m/f/d)

About the Job

We’re looking for an experienced Fabrication Director(m/f/d) to join one of our portfolio companies and lead its semiconductor foundry. You will work with an experienced fab manager during the planning, installation and ramp-up phase of a pilot fab for a new photonic semiconductor technology and then take over the fabrication director role. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the startup and running of semiconductor manufacturing, facility management, and people operations.

You’ll focus on establishing a new pilot fab including facility and tool planning, ramp-up and ensuring first silicon out of the fab on schedule, oversee the installation and qualification of production tools and develop and implement high volume manufacturing processes.

In this role, you’ll:

• Alongside an experienced team plan and establish a new pilot production site for a novel photonic technology integrated in backend of CMOS electronics
• Ramp up the cleanroom facility to ensure it being ready for equipment on schedule
• Manage tool move in, hookup and site acceptance together with partners and internal teams
• Run the fab organisation including facilities and tool maintenance, optimise production processes, and introduce automation and intelligent technologies to enhance production efficiency and reduce costs
• Participate in the inspection, management, and evaluation of suppliers to ensure delivery quality and establish long-term cooperative relationships
• Network with CTO department to appropriately arrange production resources, and ensure efficient and high quality operation of production lines
• Ensure the manufacturing process meets quality standards and requirements, monitor product inspection and testing, timely handle exceptions, and monitor quality to improve technology quality and process efficiency
• Build the teams for facility and tool maintenance, tool support, and quality assurance.

Your Profile

• Successfully completed degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Electronics, Chemical Engineering, or a comparable field
• At least 10 years of experience in semiconductor fab management
• Extensive expertise with production processes, workflows, and quality management
• Proficiency in creating and adjusting production plans, capable of independently making production plans based on production tasks and resource conditions
• In depth knowledge and skills in equipment and facility maintenance and management, capable of creating maintenance plans and ensuring normal operation of equipment
• In depth knowledge with production cost controls and cost analysis

Please note that we are looking for support in the Aachen office of our portfolio company. Eligibility to work within the EU is required as well.
