    At Proxima Fusion, you will join a diverse and interdisciplinary team working at the frontier of fusion technology. As a Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in advancing our ML and data management capabilities to support fusion technology development. Your work will focus on designing and implementing scalable data pipelines, MLOps tooling, and cloud-based training pipelines for large-scale simulations. This role provides a unique opportunity to work alongside machine learning experts, software engineers, fusion scientists, and fusion engineers, making a tangible impact on the future of clean energy.

    If you have:
  • A Master’s degree in computer science, machine learning, physics, mathematics, or equivalent experience;
  • At least 2 years professional experience with data-driven software and data infrastructure design, scalable applications, and scientific simulation software;
  • Strong knowledge of Python, the PyData ecosystem, and MLOps tooling, as well as good familiarity with ML Frameworks such as PyTorch, Tensorflow, or Jax;
  • Experience with Pipeline Scheduling systems such as Airflow or Dagster, as well as ETL systems such as PySpark and Kubernetes;
  • Experience with computation in cloud or HPC environments, scalable training pipelines involving numeric simulations, and distributed computing;

  • You will help us:
  • Contribute to our ML-related software engineering efforts together with ML researchers, our software infrastructure team, and fusion experts.
  • Develop our MLOps tooling, ML model implementations, data analysis, dataset management, data pipelining, cloud-based large-scale simulation, data analysis, and visualization tooling.
  • Act as a link between the interdisciplinary team members at Proxima, building systems that empower ML experts, software engineers, and fusion experts.
  • Be the first point of contact for software needs in the AI team, defining and ensuring good software practice and directions.
