  • Job Summary:

    As an Engineering manager for the Business Operations team you are responsible for leading and managing our engineers and empowering them to deliver high quality, secure and performant solutions for managing every step of deploying RetailNext's hardware and software to customers. The product tracks everything—from planning the required equipment for each store, coordinating shipments, scheduling installations, post-installation audits that verify system accuracy to sending invoices and collecting them. This role ensures the delivery of efficient internal business systems that drive global operations. The manager will oversee technical strategy, process excellence, and team development, creating an environment of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

    Responsibilities:

    Team Leadership & Development:

    • Recruit, mentor, and empower engineers, building a culture of accountability, collaboration, and technical excellence.
    • Provide regular feedback and guidance to support development and performance

    Technical Oversight & Quality Assurance:

    • Ensure all new code is developed with test coverage, addressing both core functionalities and edge cases.
    • Oversee the resolution of bugs, ensuring that each fix is accompanied by tests validating the solution.
    • Establish and maintain best practices for code reviews, emphasizing architectural integrity, code style, and a clean version control history.

    Operational Excellence:

    • Manage on-duty rotations for prompt issue resolution reported via channels such as Slack and email, ensuring high user satisfaction.
    • Oversee the creation and management of detailed Jira tickets for issue tracking, ensuring clear reproduction steps and documentation.
    • Coordinate continuous delivery processes to guarantee high-quality deployments without disrupting existing functionalities.

    Cross-Team Collaboration & Process Improvement:

    • Work closely with internal stakeholders, including operations, product management, and executive leadership, to align technical initiatives with business objectives.
    • Proactively identify opportunities to improve product quality and internal processes, driving efficiency and reducing operational waste.
    • Balance priorities between customer-facing analytics products and critical internal systems, ensuring both teams receive the necessary support and resources.

    • Leadership & Communication:
      • Strong leadership skills with the ability to build consensus, mentor teams, and communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
      • Excellent interpersonal skills in a collaborative and supportive distributed team environment.
      • Inspire and support the team to achieve high performance and deliver innovative solutions.

    • Technical Expertise:
      • Proficiency in software development best practices, including Agile methodologies and continuous delivery.
      • Familiarity with frontend technologies, preferably Ember.js,and backend technologies, preferably Golang,, as well as experience with ERP systems like Netsuite is a plus.
      • Knowledge of building and maintaining scalable systems, with an emphasis on testing and continuous integration/delivery.
      • Deep understanding of software engineering principles, version control (Git), and package management tools (NPM, Yarn).
    • Problem Solving & Decision Making:
      • Ability to diagnose issues quickly and implement effective, scalable solutions.
      • A proactive mindset focused on identifying process improvements and enhancing product quality executing technical strategies that align with overall business goals.
      • A results-driven approach with the ability to balance long-term vision with day-to-day operational needs.
