    Tasks

    Position overview

    As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our data pipelines, data warehouses, and data processing systems. You will work closely with data scientists, analysts, backend engineers and other stakeholders to ensure the availability, accuracy, and reliability of our data. Your expertise in data engineering and best practices will be essential in optimizing performance and enabling our ambitious AI projects.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT processes to ingest, clean, and transform data from various sources
    • Build and manage data warehouses, data lakes, and other data storage solutions
    • Optimize and monitor data pipelines to ensure efficient and reliable data processing
    • Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to understand data requirements and deliver high-quality data solutions
    • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code, and participate in code reviews and pair programming sessions
    • Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues in a timely manner
    • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in data engineering and apply them to improve our systems

    Requirements

    Qualifications:

    • 5+ years practical experience as a data engineer or similar role
    • Strong expertise in automation/orchestration tools (e.g. Prefect, Kubeflow, Airflow, Dagster, Dataform)
    • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with database management systems (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redshift)
    • Experience with big data technologies (e.g., BigQuery, Hadoop, Spark, Kafka)
    • Proficiency in Python
    • Experience with containerization technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud services (e.g. GCP, AWS, Azure)
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to articulate technical concepts
    • Experience in data science and machine learning is nice to have
    • Experience with geographic processing (GDAL, QGIS, PostGIS, CityDB) is nice to have
