Your mission
Ensure a safe working environment and support the development of safe and compliant products at Ucaneo. You will play a key role in overseeing both facility safety and product safety certification as we develop innovative Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology.
We are seeking a Junior Safety Officer to join our dynamic startup in Berlin. Your primary focus will be on maintaining workplace safety and supporting the certification of our products. You will work closely with the operations, engineering, and product teams to ensure Ucaneo’s processes and products meet all safety standards and certifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and enforce safety regulations and protocols in lab and industrial environments.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments of equipment, facilities, and product prototypes.
- Collaborate with the product development team to ensure that safety and regulatory compliance are integrated into product design.
- Assist in obtaining and maintaining product safety certifications (e.g., CE marking, ISO standards) and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Support the development and implementation of safety policies and training programs for both workplace and product safety.
- Ensure compliance with local and national health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Manage hazardous materials, waste disposal, and lab safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate safety records and documentation, including certification-related processes.
- Participate in emergency preparedness activities, including fire drills and safety audits.
Your profile
Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 1-2 years of experience in a safety-related role, preferably with exposure to product safety and certification processes.
- Knowledge of local health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Familiarity with product safety standards and certification processes (e.g., CE marking, ISO 45001, ISO 9001).
- Ability to conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and assist in product safety evaluations.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, especially in documentation and compliance tracking.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams. Bonus Skills:
- Experience in safety management for chemical or electrochemical systems.
- Understanding of product lifecycle, including design, testing, and certification.
