Role: Senior Site Reliability Engineer
Previous working experience: 7+ years in the DevOps / SRE / Platform Engineering field
Working hours: 40hrs/week
Working Location: Remote EU/Berlin
Reports to: Platform Engineering
Desired start date: As soon as possible
Be ready to play a key role in our Cloud, Infrastructure & Operations team. You will work closely with the Customer Operations and Backend teams, as well as other teams regularly.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Deploy and run our Backend services in the Cloud (AWS) on Kubernetes using EKS and other AWS-services like S3, EC2 or SNS
Automate our infrastructure deployments and management with IaC (using Kubernetes, Terraform, Nix, Concourse, GitHub Actions and others)
Manage our own Cassandra/ElasticSearch clusters and various backing services
Ensure services are up and running 24/7
Coordinate and plan projects with other teams and stakeholders
Work on open source code, contribute to various upstream projects
Mentoring of junior engineers and knowledge transfer
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience
7+ years of professional experience in DevOps, SRE, Platform Engineering roles
Proven track record of managing Deployments on Kubernetes based Platforms using GitOps and Infrastructure as Code
Passionate about designing, building, and running distributed and scalable systems
Advocate for industry best practices
Strong Linux background, including the ability to analyse and troubleshoot OS-level and networking issues
Experience in automating containerized builds and deployments
Experience with operating production workloads on AWS (or other Cloud providers) using Container Technologies
Experience with at least one of the following scripting and programming languages: bash, Python, Go
Experience with Kubernetes (Operators), Terraform, Helm, Nix, Ansible, Docker
Experience ensuring observability, logging and monitoring with e.g. Prometheus, Loki, Grafana
Passion for clean code and elegant solutions (continuously improving current ones)
Solid understanding of software-development lifecycle methodologies (Agile, DevOps, GitOps, etc.).
Experience managing Cassandra, ElasticSearch, Redis and RabbitMQ is a plus
Experience with ISO 27001, SOC2 or other relevant certifications is a plus
On-premise deployment / operations experience, working with regulated industries / public sector is a huge plus
Being a contributor to relevant open source projects is a plus
Interest in statically-typed functional programming languages (e.g. Haskell) is a plus
A Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) certification is a plus, but not a requirement
