What is the Arbeitsagentur?
Arbeitsagentur (Bundesagentur für Arbeit) is the local employment agency. Also known as Bundesagentur für Arbeit. They help you in general (when applicable) with:
Unemployment benefits (Arbeitslosengeld I)
Short time working (Kurzarbeitergeld)
Pay for German language classes
When you lose your job, you must inform them within 3 days. They tell you if you qualify for unemployment benefits or not. They can help you find a new job.
Sometimes you have to visit them in person. Very likely, they speak German only. Take a friend or an official translator.
